This was an incredibly special project as Taylor was celebrating her Quinceañera! We began with a family and portrait session in Duke Gardens located in Durham, North Carolina. The cherry blossoms were just beginning to bud, it was a truly magical session.
Taylor later celebrated her quinceañera with an incredible party full of dancing, family, friends, and delicious food.
Congratulations to these Jordan High School Graduates! 🎓
This sweet friend group wanted photos together at the Coker Arboretum on UNC's campus. Their senior year began in 2020 - how tough was that? But they persevered and made it through with grace and resilience.
This group brought excellent poses and energy! What really got me was when they cheered each other on as each person had their portrait made. I loved working with these young women.
Willa needed updated headshots for their professional work. We set-up a session at the North Carolina Botanical Gardens and caught some really beautiful images. I adore working with natural light, it really highlights my client and their natural beauty.
Ruthie graduated from high school and needed some portraits to celebrate and mark the occasion. We met at the Coker Arboretum for her portrait mini session.
Alex and Dillon were a lovely, fun couple whom I adored working with. They were my first wedding as a professional photographer, and they made it SO easy for me.
Alex’s style is soft, romantic, earthy, with striking intensity. She brought exciting ideas for after-ceremony photography locations to our initial meeting. Alex and Dillon’s ceremony was held at the NCSU University Club. We traveled to Lake Johnson, the tunnel of free expression on NCSU’s campus, and the railroad tracks behind Raleigh Brewing.
Thank you, Alex and Dillon, for letting me capture your beautiful day. I’m so glad I could be a part of it!
Tracy Deonn is the author of Legendborn, a New York Times best selling book and winner of the Coretta Scott King - John Steptoe for New Talent Author Award. In early 2020, Tracy approached me about headshots for her press kit and for her book jacket.
I am so honored to be a part of Tracy’s journey. You can find my photographs on her website and in the book jacket of Legendborn.

Nichole Howe not only is an incredible person, but she’s an amazing personal trainer. Nichole (Nicki) came to me needing headshots and photos for her social media and promotional pages. I was so excited to help her with this request. We went to the North Carolina Botanical Gardens for her portraits and ended up with some flowery, strong images. Nicki also brought her furry friend, Finn, to part of the session who added some levity and love.
Check out her page for more information about how she can help you reach your goals.
I met Christine Parks through a previous client who is a ceramist - Julie Berkowitz. Christine and her husband, David, own and manage Camellia Forest Tea Gardens in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Christine is passionate about growing, harvesting, preparing, curing, and brewing her own tea. She is also passionate about helping others learn how to do the same, so she wrote a book with Susan Walcott: Grow Your Own Tea.
I have over 15 published images in this book. I’m so honored to be part of this dreamy, beautiful book.
Chapel Hill Quest Martial Arts needed staff headshots and group photos for their website and social media. Chapel Hill Quest Martial Arts is an incredible community of people who are here to help you unleash your full potential. If you’re interested in mindful self-defense and overall wellness, check out CHQMA for your needs!
For our photoshoot, we went to Sarah P. Duke Gardens and took photos on their famous red bridge, the Asiatic arboretum, and in the bamboo stands. Duke Gardens is always a wonderful resource for outdoor photography.
Sugar, Spice, and Everything Iced is a small, woman-owned business based in Chapel Hill, NC. The owner, Megan, has been making cupcakes since she was in middle school. She has won an award for her Hummingbird flavor cupcake.
When Megan approached me about taking photos, she was wanting to develop her business and brand by having images of beautiful cupcakes. I had a lot of fun styling these photos. Megan’s cupcakes are as delicious as they look!

Julie Berkowitz was one of my very first clients. We met through our martial arts dojo and she told me she would like some photos to use on her website, for her events, and for some social media. I met her at her studio and watched her get to work. Julie offers all levels of classes, from 4 years of age and up!
Julie is a very talented ceramist and wonderful teacher. I highly recommend taking a class from her if you’re in the Durham/Chapel Hill/Raleigh area. Check out her website here!
Cait Schmitt is an intuitive painter, dancer, craniosacral therapist, reiki master, and energy goddess. Cait needed some photographs for her social media and website and asked me to help her express the feelings and space created during craniosacral sessions. We did some unconventional headshots and then worked with a model to show how gentle and lovely energy work is.
Cait was truly a joy to work with and I highly encourage you to have a session with her and check out her paintings.
